Your Leader
Paul Brewer joined The Church of Light in 1969. He has been studying and teaching astrology since that time. He is a Hermetician, Minister, and past President of the Church of Light. He developed the Horoscope astrological software program for Windows that employs the Hermetic system and Astrodynes. His professional affiliations include the NCGR, AFA and ISAR. His primary fields of interest are religion, philosophy, occult science and cosmology.
Paul’s formal education includes a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters in Business Administration from California State University. His professional background includes a 28-year career as an electrical engineer and program manager at The Boeing Company in Southern California.
Have you ever wondered why you are attracted to some people and repelled by others? Why your communications with certain friends go well, while others dissolve due to disagreements? Perhaps, although you try to avoid favoritism, you still get along better with one of your children than with the others. Astrology can answer these and many other questions about relationships.
We humans react with one another like different chemical compounds. For example: when combined, iron and carbon form steel which is harder and stronger than either of its separate components. On the other hand, nitrogen and glycerin combine with an explosive outcome. By comparing the astrological charts of two individuals one can better understand the nature of their relationship.
Like our closest relatives the primates, humans are social animals. We band together into families, clans, tribes, communities, and nations for our mutual benefit and survival. Our ability to get along with fellow members of our species helps to insure that survival. Our inability to have relationships can be isolating and some cases cause us to be ostracized by our family and community.

Special emphasis is given to the role of astrodynes and progressions in affecting compatibility.
Each student will also have the opportunity to apply what they learn in class to the study of their own horoscope.
Your facilitator Christopher Gibson is a Hermetician and Minister with the Church of Light, with over 40 years experience studying and applying the Brotherhood of Light Lessons.
The suggested donation is $12 per class or $50 for the five-week series.

In this class you will learn how to refine your natal and progressed chart analysis skills with case studies facilitated by Christopher Gibson and Paul Brewer.
There are many traditions surrounding the history and use of the tarot. In the Brotherhood of Light tradition the tarot card images were originally derived from bas-reliefs found in the subterranean initiation chambers of the Egyptian Mystery School. These images comprise the Royal Path of life and provided insights on the evolution of the soul back towards spirit after its descent into matter. In this Intensive weekend we will concentrate on the use of tarot in divination, or foreknowledge of the future. The student will learn the basic meanings for each of the major arcanum, minor arcanum, and court cards.

Hermetic Astrology teaches that the decanate in which a planet resides is an indicator of deeper, spiritual urges seeking expression. Prominent planet(s), the Sun, Moon and Ascendant are of special significance. Although the spiritual urges are subtle, they are most satisfying when met.
Early Classical astrologers such as Aratos, Ptolemy, and Marcus Manilus recognized 48 constellations; the 12 signs of the zodiac and the 36 extra-zodiacal constellations known as decans. The word decan comes from the Greek meaning “ten” and each decanate corresponds to a ten-degree section of the zodiac. The decanates first evolved in Egyptian astrology before being absorbed by the Greco-Roman world.
In this 12-week course, instructor Christopher Gibson will take you on a journey through the folklore and mythologies of the classic world. Through the symbolism of archetypes and astro-mythology we will discover keys to understanding character, personality, and the unique spiritual message that is encoded in every birth chart.

Astro means star and Dyna means power. Astrodynes are a method of determining the relative amount of power, harmony, and discord in any chart.
Astrodynes not only quantify the power of each of the planets, signs, houses, and aspects in a chart, but also reveal the percentage of that power in relationship to the whole of the chart. Areas of personal power express as our most prominent characteristics or personality traits, and also correlate to the areas of life in which the individual feels most naturally impelled.
In this six-week course the participant will learn how to read an astrodyne report, and apply the technique in refining his or her delineation skills. Each class we will look at sample charts of celebrities and other notables. The student will have the opportunity to analyze the astrodynes of their own chart in order to identify the key patterns in their own consciousness.
